POST How to choose earrings
Choose earrings Most Suitable for Your Face Shape
General factors that are important when you choose earrings.
Oval
The oval shaped face has soft lines and is a bit narrower at the jawline than at the temples.
Some well-known women with oval shaped faces:
Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba, Britney Spears……
The most suitable earrings are soft shapes like tear drop pearls, circles and also oval shaped with the wider part near the bottom. Also hoops or rings can be workable choices.
Heart
The heart shaped face is wide at the temples and hairline and narrowing to a delicately narrow chin.
Some well-known women with heart shaped faces:
Demi Moore, Brittany Murphy……
As the lower part of the face is narrowing, round hoops, teardrops that are a bit wider at the bottom, dangling triangles and others keeping in mind that the shape should be wider at the bottom.
Heart shaped earrings or any other types that are wide at the top and narrow pointed at the bottom should be avoided.
Round
The round shaped face is wider at the ears and cheeks with a round chin and hairline.
Some well-known women with round shaped faces:
Cameron Diaz, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Drew Barrymore…..
Longer earrings are the best choice. They should not be too wide or heavy looking. Chandeliers can be used but here also, keep the total image slim-looking.
Square
The square shaped face has a strong squarish jawline and also an equally square hairline.
Some well-known women with square shaped faces:
Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Sandra Bullock…..
The earrings should not be too short. Longer earrings will soften the shape of the face. Also hoops are a good choice, but not too small.
Avoid squarish or large angular shaped earrings.
Rectangular
The rectangular shaped face is long and slender and has roughly the same with at the forehead and just below the cheekbones. The chin is a bit narrow.
Some well-known women with rectangular shaped faces:
Naomi Campbell, Natalie Portman…..
The earrings should be wider at the bottom, but circles, triangles and square shapes are also good choices. The earrings could also be of more solid looking shape.
Longish, thin earrings, hoops or danglers should be avoided.
Diamond
The diamond shaped face is widest at the cheekbones, and more narrow at the forehead and the jaw line.
Some well-known women with diamond shaped faces:
Jennifer Gardner, Madonna…..
Studs or short drops are good choices, as are most earrings that are relatively shorter and wider, or combinations of curves and straight lines.
Diamond shapes or long rectangular earrings are best avoided.
Triangular
The triangular shaped face has a wide jawline that tapers or narrows toward the cheeks and temples.
Some well-known women with triangular shaped faces:
Geena Davis, Kathy Ireland, Reese Witherspoon……
Earrings that are wider at the bottom than the top are good choices. Earrings that are of a non-symmetrical (asymmetric) shape can also be suitable.
Inverted Triangle
The inverted triangular shaped face has a wider forehead that tapers off towards the jawline.
Some well-known women with inverted triangular shaped faces:
Jennifer Love Hewitt, Tyra Banks….
Straight dangling earrings and hoops are good choices. Earrings that are of a non-symmetrical (asymmetric) shape can also be suitable.
These recommendations are only rough guidelines and it may be that hairstyle, clothing etc changes the types of earrings that will be more suitable in certain cases.
Also, the various face shapes are overlapping in many instances and cannot be 100% categorized as “this” or “that”.
The main thing when choosing earrings is to try to balance your face with the jewelry.
In the end, you are the one deciding.
